Manage Channel Overview
The Manage Channel page lets you manage your channels and all of the video available for online broadcasting.
Specifically, this page allows you to do the following:
- Setup a new Maxcast channel
- Add or remove videos from a Maxcast channel
- Edit channel information
- Simple Video Editor
- Purchase additional Maxview minutes or Maxcast channels
- Add or modify categories for video content
- Delete channels or videos
- Select archived videos to prepare them for online broadcasting
- Viewing account and channel usage reports
- Access the Advanced Editing interface to create video clips
- Access the Channel Owner View for sorting and viewing of content
Channel Owner View Overview
When viewing your channel as a logged in owner, you can have a similar experience to that of those with whom you share your videos. This interface allows you to make changes to one channel at a time and also provides you with access to change display options, such as sorting the order of videos in the channel and creating a custom welcome message.
Specifically, this page allows you to do the following:
- Sort the order of videos in a Maxcast channel
- Add or remove videos from a Maxcast channel
- Edit channel information
- Simple Video Editor
- Watch all channel video
- Share a clip, video, or full channel with friends
- Access other channels you own
Advanced Editing Overview
The Advanced Editing page allows users to create smaller clips from video content within a channel and to edit the information associated with a video or clip.
Specifically, this page allows you to do the following:
- Simple Video Editor
- Set start and stop times to create new video clips
Setting up a new Maxcast channel
Edit Channel Information
The first step to setup a Maxcast channel is to edit the channel information. This can be accomplished by clicking on the edit icon ( ) next to your channel on either the Manage Channel page or the Channel Owner View page.
Make sure you take time to set a heartbeat for visitors viewing your content and the options for handling overage minutes. Click on the "save" to apply your changes.
Add and Remove Video in the Channel
The second step is to manage the video within a channel. This can be accomplished by clicking on the tab for the channel you want to add the video to, then scroll down to the list of "Additional Videos" and clicking on the "add" button next to the desired video.
Once you have added video to your channel, your channel is ready to start playing.
Using the Simple Video Editor
You can edit the information associated with any video by clicking on the edit icon next to the name of the video. Click the "save" button to save the changes you make and close the Simple Video Editor window. Information to edit includes the title, description, and categories associated with the video. Any category associated with a video will also be available to help filter videos in the viewing interface.
Add or Modify Categories
You can add new categories at any time from the Manage Channel page or from the Simple Video Editor window. Click on the "Add" button next to the list of available categories and complete the available field to add a new category. You can also delete categories at any time, which will automatically remove the category from any video that is currently associated with the category you remove. Click on the delete icon next to the category to remove the category from within the Simple Video Editor window.
Pay-Per-View (PPV)
Setting up a video as pay-per-view:
Now with pay-per-view functionality on Maxcast, you can start earning money for your great videos. To set up a video for pay-per-view, login to Maxcast and go the "Manage" page. Decide which video you would like to use. Click on the "edit" button to the right of the video you have selected. Within the Simple Video Editor dialogue box, click on the "PPV" tab; here you can choose your pay-per-view settings. Decide how much your viewers must pay to watch this video, and how long they can preview the video before purchasing.
To enable the pay-per-view option, you must have a merchant account; currently Maxcast supports ProPay. For security, signing up for a ProPay account must be done through Maxcast. Pay-Per-View on Maxcast will not work with a ProPay account that has not been referred by the Maxcast Link. javascript:void window.open('http://www.propay.com?refid=MAXCAST') You will be assisted in creating a Maxcast-referred ProPay account.
Viewing pay-per-view videos:
Maxcast channels can contain pay-per-view and non pay-per-view videos. Icons to the left of each video will indicate individual pay-per-view or exchange settings. When clicking on the title of a designated pay-per-view video, you will be given the following options: "Preview," "Cancel," or "Buy Now." You can also purchase a pay-per-view showing by clicking on the dollar sign in the bottom right of the Maxcast player.
Upon selecting "Buy Now", you need simply enter your name, email, and credit card information. You will be sent a confirmation email with a link back to the channel where you can view the pay-per-view video twice within the next 24 hours. Keep in mind that any pay-per-view credit card transactions are strictly between you and the owner of the video. Contact the video owner with questions or comments regarding this transaction.
Maxcast Exchange
Exchanging your videos just got even easier! Login to Maxcast and navigate to the "Manage" tab. Exchange settings are specific to individual videos, so select the video you would like to exchange, and click on the "edit" button to the right of the video title. Within the Simple Video Editor dialogue box, click on the "Exchange" tab. Choose from the following video exchange options:
None - this video will not be exchanged with other users
Full - allow viewers to edit and exchange this video from their account
Limited - allow viewers to edit this video from their account, but not exchange
Personal - allow viewers to only view this video from their account
After deciding on the video's exchange properties, you can choose whether or not you would like your video included in the directory of public videos. Choose this option if you would like all users to be able to search for and locate your video. For more privacy, you can choose a password that users must enter after locating your video in the public directory before viewing.
